1. Who we are

Artists Rule The Universe ("ARTU", "we", "us") is a curated, artist-owned platform. We exist to give working artists professional tools, fair pay and a genuine cultural foothold, without algorithms, AI-generated music, auto-tune as standard, or advertising.

2. What you're agreeing to

By creating an account or using ARTU you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

3. Our promises to you (the Robin Hood deal)

  • Zero commission on your sales. What you sell is what you keep, minus only the unavoidable third-party processing fees (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) at cost.
  • Infrastructure at cost price. We don't mark up the tools you need to run your career.
  • Curated streaming with direct royalties. We don't claim "a billion songs" and we don't accept open uploads. Approved artists get transparent dashboards.
  • No adverts, no algorithm, no AI-generated music. Ever.

4. Membership and payment

ARTU runs on a pay-what-you-feel membership with a sensible minimum, adjusted by country and income. If you can afford more, you make it possible for someone who can't. Payment is processed by trusted third parties; we don't store your card details.

5. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login details safe and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

6. Your content

You own your music, writing, images and everything else you upload. You grant ARTU a limited, revocable licence to host, display and stream that content on the platform so it can do what you've asked it to do, nothing more. Delete your content and the licence ends. We don't train AI on it. We don't sell it.

You confirm you have the rights to everything you upload, including any samples, features and cover artwork.

7. What you can't do here

  • Upload AI-generated music as your own work, or pass off AI vocals as a human performance.
  • Upload material you don't have the rights to.
  • Harass other members, or use ARTU to abuse, dox or threaten anyone.
  • Scrape, mass-download or attempt to reverse-engineer the platform.
  • Use ARTU for anything illegal under your local law.

We reserve the right to remove content and close accounts that break these rules.

8. Streaming approval

Listen is curated. Being on ARTU doesn't automatically place you in the Listen library, that's a separate, human review. We're not obliged to accept anyone, and we may remove tracks if rights or quality standards aren't met.

9. Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted suppliers (payments, email, file storage). Their terms apply to the parts of the service they power. We pick them carefully and pass them through at cost.

10. Changes and closing your account

You can close your account at any time from your settings. We may update these terms, when we do, we'll post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be notified by email.

11. Liability

ARTU is provided "as is". To the extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability for things that can't legally be limited (such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
